"The car you ought to have, at the price you ought to pay"
In the late 1800's a small company called Mitchell & Lewis Wagon Company was formed making everything from wagons to bicycles. By the early 1900's they had actually moved on to making motorcycles and in 1903 made the logical next step to producing automobiles. The Racine Wisconsin based company would continue this for 20 years before finally closing its doors in 1923. Mitchells were famous for their build quality and making their own engine blocks and engines. The cars were well built and very durable while making everything from 4 & 6 cylinder models right up to briefly producing a V8 and even V12 engine before their closure.
Reported to be one of only two remaining 1915 6 passenger touring cars left in existence today, this particular car was discovered tucked away after years of storage. A comprehensive restoration was completed around 2002 where it was done in correct Mitchell Dark Imperial Blue. Since that time the car has been shown at various shows and concours before being acquired by Legendary Motorcar. The paint has been beautifully polished to a show ready finish and the black interior looks inviting with luxurious, soft seating for 6 with the use of the folding jump seats. To this day the car continues to function remarkably well. Its fires up quickly and easily with the foot operated electric starter. It is powered by a 248.8 cubic inch six cylinder engine with a 3 speed transmission and a 4.49:1 ratio rear axle to tackle the tough terrain of early roads. The car also has a very conventional driving style with throttle pedal, brake and clutch making it an easy car to learn how to drive and enjoy. All the unique Mitchell features are still present and accounted for including a sliding On/Off switch showing when the car is running and generator is functioning and even flip up headlights for making night time repairs to the engine. When new it was the pride of the Wisconsin automobile manufacturing industry, now it remains a very special and very unique example of the early automobile.
